About us.
Hi, I’m Maeve Repking. I created Baker Delights when I was just 9 years old. It started as a way to make summer writing more enjoyable when my dad forced it upon me. I loved baking my entire life, so making a baking blog seemed practical in order for me to work on my writing skills, while still having fun. My new blog inspired me to bake a lot more and share my favorite recipes.
However, in the spring of 2016, I started experiencing an immense amount of stomach pain, joint pain, and headaches. Eventually, I was diagnosed with a long list of food intolerances, including gluten, dairy, and food dyes. I gave up baking and my blog because baking without gluten and dairy was not only challenging, but the results did not taste good.
A few months later, I decided to give baking another chance. I researched and educated myself on gluten and dairy free baking until I had mastered it. My dad helped me redesign my entire website to modernize and tailor it to my liking. I continued to work on my website and produce new recipes as often as I could.
In the fall of 2017, when I was in eighth grade, the organization #ICANHELP recognized me for my positive use of media in their Digital4Good event. I gave a speech about my story at Twitter Headquarters in San Francisco. Digital4Good recognizes teens who use social media and the internet to spread positivity and encourage others to make the internet a positive and beneficial place.
Currently, I am a junior in high school and my passion is stronger than ever. I continue to produce recipes as much as possible and I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions, no matter the obstacles. Although life might not always go as planned, it’s important to never give up on one’s passions.
Our Mission.
